We didn't decorate the tree last night. When Olen lugged in my Christmas decorations from the garage, we unpacked and plugged in the lights to find that only one strand from last year worked. Bummer. So we had to postpone our tree-lighting and decorating to tonight (hopefully). I just need to squeeze a trip to the grocery into my day somehow to pick up the new lights.
After we ditched the dud light bulbs we carried on with our traditional Christmas movie and dinner night (we have a couple: with 'The Christmas Story it's meatloaf and with It's A Wonderful Life it's homemade apple cider). Last night was spaghetti and Elf. That movie is a modern-day classic. But you can't watch it without the spaghetti. Hold the maple syrup.

  1. David and I were talking about what traditions we are going to start now that we FINALLY have a kid. All of your seem so much fun. I am sure your kids will talk about the great things you do for them.

  2. What a great idea for a tradition! You guys are so cool. And I had to laugh over your lighting dilemma because we thought that happened to us too...until we realized it was our extension cord with the issues! I was getting so annoyed! lol

  3. Fun! We love the movie "Elf". My son talks about the scene when Elf crosses the street and gets plowed by a car. He thinks that is the most hilarious thing ever (boys!). The scene with the spaghetti is kind of gross with the maple syrup and candy. EEWW!

We have a couple of traditions like that. We watch "It's A Wonderful Life", "The Nativity", "Home Alone, and a new movie we added is "Christmas With the Kranks".
